Real Madrid are best known for their star quality and players with Galactico attributes. Luckily for Los Blancos, Nico Paz seems to be their next star in waiting.
Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have run Real Madrid’s midfield for almost a decade now and they still have huge roles to play at the club in the near future.
However, Real Madrid is a club that is constantly looking forward and seeking out the next upcoming star. With Modric and Kroos now in the twilight of their careers, it is only natural that alternative midfield options are being evaluated.
Paz is a player who has everyone interested right now. The 18-year-old midfielder has been a star for Real Madrid B this season and he possesses all of the traits you would expect from a Los Blancos player.
Born in Spain, the attacking midfielder is a youth international for Argentina and has represented their Under-20s on numerous occasions.
His latest bit of trickery for Real Madrid B showcased just what he is about. Cutting inside from the left, he plays a smart one-two with Alvaro Martin.
As the ball is then chipped back into his pathway, he is forced to improvise and does so brilliantly. In the most nonchalant fashion, he flicks the ball over the defender’s head with his heel.
Like a circus entertainer juggling, Paz makes it look effortless. The flick itself was worthy of a goal, but there is plenty more to the midfielder’s game.

The Real Madrid youngster is the son of former Argentina defender Pablo Paz, although he has a vastly different skillset. Naturally left-footed, Paz likes to cut inside from the right.
The midfielder has certainly had an eye for goal this season as he’s scored six goals across all competitions for Real Madrid Castilla. He has predominately played as a central midfielder, although he has also played in an advanced role off the right.
Real Madrid Castilla seems like the perfect place for Paz to learn his trade. After all, Spanish legend Raul is the man who is currently overseeing his development.
The club clearly sees the value in the dynamic midfielder as they agreed on a new contract for him earlier this year. If he continues to develop at his current rate, a first team appearance surely can’t be too far away.
His talents have already been recognised by Carlo Ancelotti as the midfielder has been called up to train with the first team on several occasions.
Paz is still waiting for his first senior appearance for Real Madrid, but he was involved in the match day squad for their Copa del Rey clash with Cacereno earlier in the year.
Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has also recognised the talents of the youngster as he included Paz in Argentina’s preliminary World Cup squad.
Whatever the future may hold for the 18-year-old, he clearly has the natural talent to make it at the top level.
