Jude Bellingham will be one of three Bundesliga players to feature on Chelsea’s target list come the summer transfer window.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is expected to mount an auspicious bid for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder. The Blues are said to favour Bellingham over West Ham’s Declan Rice, though they’re likely to face stiff competition in the transfer market.
Almost every Premier League heavyweight has been linked with the player in recent months. There’s also been interest abroad from the likes of Real Madrid.
Dortmund will be holding out for at least £130million, which could make Bellingham the most expensive transfer in Premier League history.
Since leaving the Championship in 2020, the 19-year-old has lit up the German Bundesliga. The teenager has already made 104 appearances for Dortmund and has chipped in with 15 goals along the way.
Two of those goals have come in the last three games as the England international continues to enjoy a strong start to the season. Bellingham has also captained his side in the absence of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.
According to German news outlet BILD, Bellingham won’t be the only Bundesliga player on Chelsea’s radar. RB Leipzig duo Christopher Nkunku and Josko Gvardiol are also featured on the club’s wish list ahead of the summer window.
Similarly to Bellingham, Nkunku has also been linked with a number of Premier League clubs. The 24-year-old Frenchman caught the eye following a scintillating season in Leipzig.
Last term, the player scored 35 goals in 52 games as his side reached the Europa League quarter-final, won the DFB Pokal and qualified for the Champions League.
Nkunku was rewarded for his efforts by being named ‘Player of the Season’ in the German league. He also featured in the team of the season in both the Bundesliga and Europa League.
This year, the French international is on course for another successful campaign. The player has already scored 10 goals in 15 games, including four since the start of the month.
His team-mate Gvardiol has also impressed since arriving at Leipzig in 2021. The Croatia international has already made 58 appearances for the club across all competitions.
What’s more, the player has been able to break into the Croatian national side and is now being linked with a number of top clubs.
The 20-year-old could become a replacement for Thiago Silva who is in the final year of his contract. The Brazil international is 38-year-old and is evidently in the final years of his career.
