Aston Villa are plotting ambitious moves for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and Barcelona winger Ferran Torres, according to reports.
The Clarets’ recent form under Unai Emery has put them in contention for European football next season. Now, the club are preparing to back the manager in the transfer window.
The links to the impressive duo come while Villa are looking to finalise a deal with Mateu Alemany, Barcelona’s director of football. With Emery working alongside Alemany, the Midlands club could make some impressive additions this summer.
Emery’s side currently sit in an impressive eighth place in the Premier League table. As a result, the Villa Park faithful are dreaming of European football for the first time since 2011.
The Spanish manager has overseen an unbelievable transformation since arriving at the club in October. So, it’s no surprise they are keen to back him in the transfer market.
Indeed, Villa have been linked with moves for the likes of Andreas Christensen, Nico Williams and Franck Kessie. However, a double swoop for Vlahovic and Torres would arguably be even more impressive.
Now, according to the Telegraph, Villa are poised to make a summer offer for the duo.
Vlahovic scored in a 2-1 victory over Lecce on Wednesday night but had previously gone nine club matches without a goal. Overall, he has scored nine goals in 24 league appearances for Inter this season.
Despite his inconsistent form, he is still on the radar of several top European clubs. As reported by Football365, both Arsenal and Chelsea are thought to be interested in the Serbia international.
Vlahovic will not come cheap, either, with Inter slapping an £80m price tag on his head. With that in mind, Villa will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a deal done.
Torres, on the other hand, has been in good form for Barcelona. The former Manchester City star has scored seven goals in 41 appearances across all competitions, as well as making two assists.
The Spain international joined Barcelona from Manchester City in December 2021, in a deal worth around £50 million. It’s thought he could cost a similar amount this summer.
If Villa could complete deals for both Vlahovic and Torres this summer, it could make them a powerful force in the Premier League.
However, as mentioned, they are not the only team pushing to sign both players. But, this is certainly a story to watch as we edge towards the edge of the season.
